Transferring an active domain name involves changing the company that handles the domain name registration service, so after the transfer itself, you’ll have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS record updates through the new registrar company. The transfer process is standard with most universal and country-specific domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain entails several basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a security feature, which is being adopted by more and more domain registry organizations. It is a default feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain name is locked, it will not be possible to initiate a transfer process, so nobody can even try to take your domain. The domain lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain name is registered in the first place and all new domain names that support this option are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting

If you order a cloud hosting from our company, you will be able to manage all domains registered through us using our Hepsia Control Panel and you’ll be able to unlock any of them with only a few clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be shown in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you will notice a tiny padlock sign. Clicking it will show you the current security lock status. If the domain is locked and you wish to transfer it, you’ll just need to click for the second time and you will be all set. Locking a domain is just as easy and since the domains are managed in the same place as the hosting account itself, you won’t have to sign in and out of different admin panels.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have registered a domain through us and you want to transfer it, you can easily unlock it through the very same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be displayed in alphabetical order in your account and you will notice a mini padlock-like icon next to each domain there, on the condition that its extension supports the registrar lock option. You can find out if the domain name is locked or not by clicking on this icon and modify the present status by clicking on it again. You can then proceed and start the transfer procedure right away without waiting for the status to be changed on WHOIS lookup sites, as the update will take effect instantaneously without you or us having to do anything else.
