The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, reveal which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a specific host company for your domain is the simplest way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etcetera, so, in case you wish to change some of these records, you'll be able to do it using their system. To put it differently, the NS records of a domain name show the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the Internet domain you are attempting to reach. In this way the website that you'll see will be retrieved from the proper location. The name servers usually have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain address has at least 2 NS records. There is no practical difference between the two prefixes, so what type a hosting provider will use depends exclusively on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, which comes with our cloud hosting products, will enable you to manage the name servers of each domain name registered through us with simply a few mouse clicks, so even though you may have not had a hosting plan or a domain name before, you simply won't encounter any difficulties. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and it will enable you to change the NS records of any domain or even a number of domains simultaneously. We also give you the opportunity to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every single domain name registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IPs - either ours, if you will use the child NS to point the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you'll use the new records to forward the domain name to their system. Different from other providers, we do not charge additional for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are administered via Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with highly user-friendly interface, which will allow you to handle your domain addresses with ease even when you have never used a web hosting account or a domain name before. Changing the NS records for each and every domain name registered through our company, viewing the existing ones and whether they are correct or not as to forward that domain address to our cloud hosting platform is also fairly simple and requires only a few clicks. You will also be able to register child name servers under every one of your domain names as a part of the free DNS administration services we offer with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for every domain address you accommodate inside the semi-dedicated account, so if you provide services to third-parties and host their sites, using this feature is going to give you much more credibility as a business.
